Online Resources

LaTeX is a very powerful document preparation system that produces high quality, professional output that is suitable for publication. It can be used for anything from letters and homework assignments to honours and PhD theses and books. With the advent of modern editors, LaTeX is easy to use and it is particularly useful for writing documents that contain significant amounts of mathematics or in longer documents such as books or theses that can take advantage of LaTeX's extensive cross-referencing capabilities. This unit is taught inside Ed , which this provides a self-contained environment for working with LaTeX.

The following modules must be completed:

  1. LaTeX Fundamentals
  2. Writing LaTeX documents

In addition, students need to complete at least two of the modules:

  1. The LaTeX packaging system
  2. Mathematics in LaTeX
  3. LaTeX manuscripts

Students also need to complete an assignment, which includes completing a peer review of the assignments of two other students.

All students are encouraged to ask and answer questions in the Ed discussion forum, which supports LaTeX input. The first time that you log into Ed you need to follow the link from the canvas page as this will create your Ed account for the unit.
